BURLINGTON - Gilberte M. "Betty" Monty, 81 of Burlington, died peacefully Monday, Dec. 13, 2010 in the Burlington Health and Rehabilitation.

She was born in Burlington on June 8, 1929, the daughter of Sergius and Noella (Duclos) Monty.

Betty had been employed with Robinson Wood Turning for many years in the accounting department and later with the Lake Champlain Transportation Authority. She was a member of St. Anthony Parish and belonged to Sodality of the Blessed Virgin, Children of Mary, St. Anthony Friendship Club and St. Anthony Choir. Betty is survived by her sisters, Sylvia LaPointe of South Burlington and Gloria Monty of Burlington; her brother, Peter Monty and his wife, Mary Lou, of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; and seven siblings, Margaret Hawley, Theresa Leach, Jeannie Monty, Cecile Viens, Lillian Mullen, Yvette Luchini and Veronica Monty.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 20, 2010 at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church with burial to follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery.

There will be no visiting hours. Assisting her family is the Ready Funeral and Cremation Service, South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Road.
