Josiah married Esther (Brown) Dyer (23 Feb 1708/09 - 8 Apr 1784) on 25 Dec 1728/29 at the Buckingham Friends' Monthly Meeting House, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

Esther's brother, Alexander, married Josiah's sister, Esther.

On 23 Nov 1763, Josiah Dyer produced a certificate for himself, wife Esther, and their children, Esther, Phebe, and Rachel to the Gunpowder Friend's Monthly Meeting, Baltimore County, Maryland, from the Buckingham Friends' Monthly Meeting.

On 27 Oct 1773, Josiah and Esther requested a certificate from the Gunpowder Friends' Monthly Meeting to remove to the Buckingham Friends' Monthly Meeting with their daughters, Phebe Moore and Rachel Dyer.

From the diary of Josiah's son, John Dyer, Sr.:
"About 1 o Clock the 16th of April 1780 my aged father (about 72) Josiah Dyer Departed this Life very Quietly after a long and tedious Illness being very poorly in Maryland before he Came home & so Continued till his Departure."

Josiah was buried at the Plumstead Meeting House Burying Ground on 18 Apr 1780.

On 8 Oct 1786, Abraham Scott, of Baltimore County, Maryland, purchased 127 acres of "The Meadows" and 63 acres of "Regulation" from Joseph Dyer, Josiah Dyer, John Dyer, and John Bradshaw, executors of the estate of Josiah Dyer, late of Buck County, Pennsylvania, for 1128 pounds, 5 shillings, and 8 pence, current money. Josiah Dyer had purchased the land from John Schoolfield on 28 June 1763. In his lifetime, Josiah had sold the land to Abraham Scott for 1200 pounds and already received 71 pounds, 14 shillings, and 4 pence from Abraham. Josiah had died before he could execute a deed of conveyance. [Baltimore County Land Records Liber AA, Folio 138]

Abraham Scott was Josiah's brother-in-law. John Bradshaw was Josiah's son-in-law.

3) John Dyer, Sr., (1 Sept 1736 - 1811) was born in Plumstead Township, Bucks County, PA. He married Jemima (Moore) Dyer, of New Jersey, on 7 Feb 1769. John wrote the "Diary of John Dyer of Plumstead."

4) Mary (Dyer) Wright (born 1 Jul 1740 - 20 Aug 1803) was born in Plumstead Township, Bucks County, PA. She possibly married Thomas Wright. Mary died in Wilkes-Barre.

5) Esther/Hester (Dyer) Bradshaw (29 Oct 1742 - 2 May 1809) was born in Plumstead Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She married John Bradshaw (14 Mar 1741/42 - 6 Apr 1821) on 26 July 1775 in the Buckingham Monthly Meeting House, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. John was born in Bucks County to James Bradshaw and Ruth (Lowther) Bradshaw.

6) Rachel Dyer (born 1750) removed back to the Buckingham Monthly Meeting from the Gunpowder Monthly Meeting with her parents on 23 Sept 1772.
