NEWPORT NEWS - Mary Barrett Kelly Hooker Lane, 88, entered into eternal rest with her heavenly father, Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News.
She was a native of Snow Hill, NC. In 1959 she became a resident of Newport News where she met and married the late Deacon Richard Lane. She was a loving wife, homemaker, and mother of eight children. She became a loyal member of Christian Union Church until her health failed.
She is survived by her four daughters, Mayola K. Chandler, Sarah Kelly and Frances Hooker of Newport News, and Mamie Johnson of Phoebus; and two sons, David Hooker (Tracey) of Richmond, Va., and Barry Hooker of Newport News. A host of grand, great-grand, great-great-grandchildren and cousins.
Viewing will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at Christian Union 3206 Chestnut Avenue, NN, VA 23607. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
