On Sep. 5, 1831 Arminda married Amberry Rankin. The Rogers family were well educated and Arminda became a teacher. In 1835 Ann Rutledge (Abraham Lincoln's legendary "lost love") came to her for instruction prior to entering the Female Academy in Jacksonville, IL. Lincoln, a close friend of the family, would often accompany Ann to these sessions.
