GREENSBORO Malvin Benedict "Buddy" Rose, Jr., age 67, of Greensboro, died Feb. 27, 2009, at Hale County Hospital in Greensboro. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2009, at Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel with Bro. Dee McGuire officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Mr. Rose was born Nov. 19, 1941, in Hale County to the late Malvin and Thelma Gleaton Rose, Sr.

Mr. Rose was employed at Gulf States Paper mill for over forty years.

Survivors include two sons, Herman "Ben" Rose of Greensboro, and Glen R. Rose (Julie) of Greensboro; four sisters, Betty Meigs (Elliott) of North Augusta, S.C., Margaret Ryan (Jimmy) of Marion, Ruth Nelson (Charlie) of Greensboro, and Patricia Vail of Northport; one brother, Kenneth Rose (Susan) of Greensboro; and three grandchildren, Andrew Rose, Jacob Rose, and AnnaStewart Rose.

Active pallbearers will be Andrew Rose, Jacob Rose, Shannon Henry, Stacy Fondren, Tanner Ryan, and Tyler Landolt.

Honorary pallbearers are Colonial Haven Rehabilitation Center, the employees of Hale County Hospital and EMS, and employees and friends of Rock-Tenn Paper Mill.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Mr. Rose's memory to Southern Academy General Building Fund, 407 College Street, Greensboro, Ala. 36744.
