GRACE D. PITTMAN BOWDEN JOYNER
NEWPORT NEWS - A funeral service for Mrs. Grace D. Joyner, 77, was held Sunday at 3 p.m. in Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, Zuni, by the Rev.J. Waverly Horne and Dr. R. Furnam Kenney of Virginia Baptist Home. Burial was in the Bowden-Joyner family cemetery, Zuni. Peninsula Funeral Home was in charge.
Mrs. Joyner died Thursday in the nursing home.
A native of Surry County, she had lived in Newport News of 16 years. She was a member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, Zuni, and a former Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Wuska of Newport News; four sons, Elbert R. Bowden of Wakefield, Harold D. Bowden of Newport News, Andrew A. Bowden of Shoreham, N.Y., and Daniel E. Bowden of Tampa, Fla., five stepdaughters; a stepson; a brother George Pittman of Newport News; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
