Daniel E. Bowden, 69, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2006, after a two-and-a-half-year bout with cancer. His loving daughter, Donnette, and granddaughter, Grace, were at his side.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a former member of the Warwick Moose Lodge #1711 and had lived in Newport News before he moved to Florida in 1981.
He is survived by his daughter, affectionately called Missy, and his granddaughter, Grace; two brothers, Elbert and wife, Charlotte, of Wakefield and Andrew and wife, Kay, of Smithfield; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Bowden of Windsor; a niece, Margie Chambers of Sun City, Fla.; a number of nieces and nephews in Virginia and several in other states.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Solomon Bowden and his mother, Grace Bowden Joyner.
At Dan's request, his remains are to be cremated with his ashes spread over his mother and father's grave. A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Sunday, May 28, at the Family Cemetery in Zuni, Va.
