Kaye Fillmore passed away surrounded by family at her home on December 18, 2010 from complications of rheumatoid arthritis.

She was born May 18, 1920 in Salt Lake City to Robert L. and Mary Grant Judd and was the granddaughter of Heber J. and Augusta Grant.
Kaye graduated from Utah State University in 1940 and was affiliated with Chi Omega. That year, she married her college sweetheart, Winston J. Fillmore. After living in Corvallis, Oregon while Winston attended graduate school, they moved to Ogden. Kaye and Winston have resided in Salt Lake City since 1974.

Kaye was a member of The Junior League of Ogden and of Town Club. Acting on a lifelong friendship with Dewey Decimal and a great love affair with books, Kaye returned to college to study library science at Weber State University and University of Utah.

She enjoyed many years working in libraries at those universities, most often as a volunteer cataloguing previously uncharted collections. She also created a wonderful library at home.

Family gatherings always included discussions of the latest books she and Winston were reading or re-reading, their recommended reading and what others were reading and, of course, the latest in politics. She was a member of the Democratic Party.

Survived by Winston, children W. Jeffery (Judy), Mary Anne, and Robert J. (Julie), all of Salt Lake City, and Peter J. (Susan) of Chevy Chase, Maryland, nine grandchildren, Amy Reeder, Andrew Fillmore, Molly Hanlon, Dru Jackson, Jane Fillmore, Anne Dahlin, Abbie Fillmore, Sarah Fillmore, and Peter Fillmore, and by her sister Pauline Johnson (Harv) and sister-in-law Virginia Leonard (Bevan). Preceded in death by her sisters Augusta Bullen and Marian Williams and her brothers Thomas G. Judd and Robert L. Judd. Kaye loved her family and extended family and so enjoyed being with and a part of the remarkable Judd Aunties. What great times and memories they created.

We will all remember Kaye as a consummate homemaker, voracious reader, and wonderful wife, mother, and friend.

Kaye will be interred in the Salt Lake City Cemetery at a private family graveside service.
A celebration of Kaye's life will be held at the Town Club on December 28, 2010 with a family visitation at 11:00 a.m. with a service at 12:00 p.m. and lunch to follow.
