Carl Fox, 90, of West Goeller Boulevard, died at 11:24 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at his home.

Mr. Fox was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Central Europe Campaign. He was honorably discharged June 5, 1946.

Mr. Fox was a cabinet maker and the founder of Carl Fox Cabinets. He fell in love with woodworking while attending Central High School. In 1955, he started the family business while working at Westermeier Hardware Company, working there 25 years while building the cabinet business.

He was a member of Westside Community Church and a former member of First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

A celebration of life will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Dennis W. Aud officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Westside Community Church.

Born in Bartholomew County January 1, 1920, Mr. Fox was the son of Willis and Agnes Pearce Fox. He married Izetta Collins July 27, 1941, in Columbus. She preceded him in death January 13, 2009.

Survivors include daughters, Linda (Jeffrey) Saunders of Brownsburg and Karen (Neal) Newell of Columbus; grandchildren, Blake (Lavonne) Everroad, Lisa (Dave) Gundaker, Mark (Jeannie) Newell, Walker (Loretta) Newell, Neal (Rebecca) Newell III and Daniel (Christina) Newell; great-grandchildren, Allie, Sydney, Samuel, Eli, Camden, Owen, Emma, Taylor, Matthew, Brianna and Sierra Newell and Tori, Carly and Jackie Gundaker; a sister, Phyllis Rothrock of Columbus; a brother, Frank (Mabel) Fox of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Fox was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister, Ruth Rudolph; and brothers, Amasa W. "Cy" and Paul Fox.
