Joe Childers of Tulsa, 91, entered eternal life December 17, 2010. He was born March 15, 1919, in Gans, OK to Webb and Lola (Strickland) Childers. Joe served his country honorably in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He flew 66 missions over the Axis during World War II. His decorations included an Air Medal, 2 Silver Oak Leaf Clusters, 4 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters and 2 Bronze Stars Croix de Guerre with Palm Order #44 France Air Force. Joe married Ann (Cook) April 20, 1978, in Tulsa. Joe was a Weapons System Supervisor for S.A.C., then a teacher with the Los Angeles, CA School System. An avid O.U. fan and 57 year season ticket holder, Joe had the largest garden at University Village. He enjoyed traveling and square dancing. Joe was a member of the Henryetta School Alumni Club and Regency Park Church of the Nazarene. He even wrote an unpublished autobiography. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sisters: Noma and Judy; brother Dan; and first wife CeDelle. Joe is survived by his loving wife Ann; daughter Joann; stepsons: Ron and Mike Cavendar; 2 grandchildren and 4 greatgrandchildren. Memorial service: 11AM Monday, December 20, at University Village Chapel. Kennedy-Kennard Funeral & Cremation.
