Gloria Garcia Hinojosa, 80, of Baytown passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at home surrounded by family. She is a native of Baytown, born January 17, 1930, and was the co-owner of Tony's Drive-Inn, a family-run business in Old Baytown. As a young woman, she performed as part of an all female, Hispanic orchestra known as La Tipica, in which she played piano. Her passion was spending time with family and friends. She was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Antonio Hinojosa, Sr., son, Robert Hinojosa, parents, Remigio and Virginia Garcia, and brother, Alfred Garcia. She is survived by sons and daughters, Tony Jr. and Barbara Hinojosa, Gilbert and Sonya Hinojosa, Richard and Pat Hinojosa, Celia and Terry Twiggs, Fernando and Myrna Ocegueda, Rosa Ocegueda Lopez, Elias and Maria Ocegueda, Luis Ocegueda, and Guillermo Ocegueda; grandchildren include Amy, Anthony, Matthew, Derric, Ashley, Britney, Gilbert Jr., Kristen, Lyndsey, Valarie, Richard Jr., Mandi, Elias Jr., Loni, Stephanie, Miguel, Christina, Joey, Andrew, and Michael; great-grand children, Jaylynn, Reagan, Reylynn, and Nathan; sisters, Dora Acosta and Virginia Perez; brothers, Ray Garcia, Robert Garcia, Daniel Garcia, and Remigio Garcia Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and family members.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1124 Beech St., Baytown, TX 77520 with Rev. Jesus Lizalde officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
