Manuelita was the daughter of Juan De Dios Tapia and Juana Maes. She married Daniel Valdes in Santa Fe, NM and they moved to Colorado by covered wagon in in 1901 with five young children. While on the journey she give birth to twins who died. They had six other children all born in Alamosa, CO. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and a devout Catholic.
