Kent was born on June 21, 1917 in Rosebud, Montana to Albert and Inez Johnson Adams. In 1919 he moved to Yakima, WA and after making several moves throughout the northwest they finally settled in 1970 in McMinnville. From 1970 – 1979 he and Mary were owners of Kent & Mary's Barber Shop in McMinnville and also owned and operated a hardware store for several years.
Kent and Mary married on September 13, 1937 and after 73 years of marriage are now in the presence of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Kent was a living testimony of his belief and trust in Jesus; he would walk the aisles of stores and any place else sharing his faith with others.
Kent was a master gardener, always proud of his tomatoes that came on before anyone else's because of his walls of water. Kent loved life and he showed it by using the word "wow". He loved to tell of their days in the barber shop in McMinnville and his many years owning hardware stores.
Kent is survived by his daughter Mary Powell of Federal Way, WA; 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary on December 14, 2010.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lafayette Community Church in care of Macy & Son.
