BEN WINKLER, LONG TIME RAVENNA RESIDENT, DIES
Services Held Today at Ravenna
RAVENNA: -- Funeral services were held 2:30 p.m. today at Ravenna Baptist Church for Ben Winkler, long-time resident of Ravenna, who passed away at his home here Monday following a lengthy illness. Rev. R. J. Simpson, of Dallas, officiated, assisted by Rev. Bill Ferguson, church pastor. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, with Cooper Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Winkler was born May 14, 1897 in Chickasha, Grady Co., OK (sic - Choctaw Nation, Oklahoma Indian Territory per Indian rent records and 1900 census) and spent the greater part of his life in the Ravenna Community.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Virgie Winkler, Ravenna, five daughters, Mrs. Leon Hasten (nee: Helen Ruth Winkler), Ravenna, Mrs. A.D. Camp (nee Dorothy Winkler) , Odessa; and Misses Elizabeth Sue, Glenna Fae and Linda Kay Winkler, Ravenna; two sons, Robert Wayne Winkler and Donald Gene Winkler, Ravenna; his mother, Mrs. Martha Winkler, Ravenna; five brothers, Ed Winkler, Savoy; Walter and Willie Winkler, Ravenna, Ray (sic -- should have read Roy) Winkler, Vernon; Ivy Winkler, Sherman; four grandchildren.
Paul bearers were Weldon Doggett, Jess Moncrief, Johnny Crumby, Raymond Perry, Ernest Hasten, and Ard Moore.

RAVENNA - Ben Winkler, 54, a retired farmer, died at his home in he Ravenna community Monday following an illness of several years. He was born in Chickasha, Grady Co., Okla (sic - Choctaw Nation, Oklahoma Indian Territory per Indian rent records and 1900 census), May 11, 1897 and came to Ravenna as a small boy.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Ravenna Baptist Church. The Rev. Royce Simpson of Dallas conducted the service. the Rev. Bill Ferguson, pastor, assisted. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, directed by Cooper Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Leon Hastings (sic - should read Hasten) of Ravenna, Mrs. A.D. Camp of Odessa, Miss Elizabeth Sue Winkler, Miss Glena Fay Winkler and Miss Linda Kay Winkler, all of Ravenna; two sons, Robert Wayne Winkler and Donald Gene Winkler, both of Ravenna; his mother, Mrs. Martha Winkler of Ravenna; five brothers, Ivy Winkler of Sherman, Ed Winkler of Savoy, Roy Winkler of Vernon and Willie Winkler and Walter Winkler, both of Ravenna; and four grandchildren.
