He was born on Nov. 4, 1919, in Minot, N.D., the son of Rudolph and Martha (Lade) Grimm. He attended school through the eighth grade in McHenry County. He graduated from Velva State Agricultural High School in 1938, and moved to Fergus Falls where he trained as an electrician with his brother, Bill. He and several others established Fergus Electric Inc. He then worked as a master electrician for Edling Electric, which later became Mollerud Electric, retiring in 1982.
Mr. Grimm served in the United States Army from May 12, 1942 to Jan. 19, 1946, where he served in the Medical Section 1928th Service Command Unit as a T/5.
On June 7, 1947, he married Helen Nelson at Hedemarken Lutheran Church in Carlisle. Mr. Grimm enjoyed many trips with his family. He especially treasured time spent with his granddaughter, Jennifer. He also enjoyed fishing, spending time at his Wall Lake cabin, tending to his tomato plants, and helping friends. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, the American Legion, the Elks, and the Eagles.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and three brothers, Bill, Emil, and Edwin.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; daughters, Beverly Grimm of Fargo, and Carol (Ron) Johnson of Bemidji; a granddaughter, Jennifer Johnson; two sisters, Leona Melom of Minot, N.D., and Zelda Eiden of Bozeman, Mont.; an uncle, Reinhard Lade of Seattle, Wash.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials are preferred to Lakeland Hospice in Fergus Falls.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday with family present at the funeral home.
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls
