She was "Aunt Sarah" to all the Illinois Grosvenors for all the 1920s and 30s and the ultimate repository of family history and wisdom. She was a kindly soul, much loved by all who knew her. The earliest memory of this writer's life was playing under a quilt (that was in a frame hanging from the ceiling of the living room of the old house that Grandfather Parker built) during a quilting party. I so distinctly remember Aunt Sarah's black stockings and black high button shoes and black dress. She wore those "widow weeds" a lot during her life-time.
