"Ethan Maxon, Jr., born in New York state on June 20, 1797; married Betsy Andrus (or Andrews) on May 1, 1817. He was the son of Ethan Maxon, Sr. and father of Densmore W. Maxon.
In 1843, he came to Wisconsin Territory with his son and settled in Maxonville (Cedar Creek, Washington County, WI) in 1861. He built a red brick house on the main corner of the village across from Bibinger's Hall. In his home, he had a small store and the post office for Maxonville. He was appointed the first postmaster of Maxonville, and he was commissioned a Justice of the Peace of Wisconsin Territory by President Polk. He was one of the original trustees of Cedar Creek Cemetery Association and a member of the local Masonic Lodge. He died April 25, 1875 at the age of 74 years.".
