MRS. GUSTAVA ANDERSON
Mrs. Gustava Anderson passed away at her home in Chariton, Iowa, on Tuesday afternoon, July 19, 1927, at 2:20 o'clock, after a brief illness due to the infirmities of old age. Deceased was one of the pioneer women of Chariton, having resided here for a period of fifty-nine years.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Carl Lundgren, will be held at the First Lutheran church in Chariton Friday afternoon, July 22, at two o'clock, after which the remains will be laid to rest in the Chariton cemetery by the side of her companion, who preceded her in death on November 6, 1917.
Gustava Anderson was born in Sweden on October 3, 1839, and at the time of her demise her age was 88 years, 9 months and 14 days. She was married in Sweden in October, 1859, to Mr. Anders Gustaf Anderson, and in 1868 they came to America and located in Chariton, Iowa, and this place has since been their home.
Fourteen children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, only four of whom are living. They are Fred G. Anderson, of this city; Mrs. A. F. Carlson, Carl O. Anderson and Clarence Martin Anderson, all of Boone, Iowa.
Mrs. Anderson had been a member of the Lutheran church for many years and had lived a faithful Christian life. She was a grand, good woman, devoted to her family, and was a splendid neighbor. During her long residence here she won many friends who esteemed her for her many noble traits.
Her passing away is greatly deplored and the sympathy of the community will be extended to the bereaved ones.
