Edwind Wagner, 89, Bismarck, formerly of Turtle Lake, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck.

Edwin Wagner was born June 23, 1921, near Mercer to Frederich and Mathilda (Naher) Wagner. He was inducted into the Army on Nov. 17, 1942, and served overseas during World War II. Edwin was honorably discharged on Nov. 14, 1945. He returned to North Dakota and married Eleanore Gett on Nov. 29, 1945, in Turtle Lake. They made their home on a farm northeast of Turtle Lake for many years where Edwin farmed and raised cattle. He and Eleanore moved into Turtle Lake in 1982, where they enjoyed their retirement years. Eleanore passed away in 1996 and Edwin moved to Bismarck in 2008.

Edwin was very proud of his military service. He was a dedicated 66-year member of the American Legion and served as Sergeant of Arms with the American Legion Post 133 of Turtle Lake for many years.

Left with fond memories are: his four children, Carol (Dennis) Wetzel, of Fruita, Colo., Sharon (Hugh) Seeley, of St. Petersburg, Fla., Paul (Etta) Wagner, of Adrian, Mich., and Doug (Patty) Wagner, of Lincoln, N.D.; five grandchildren, Angela, Scott, Jacob, Jordan and Alyssa; three stepgrandchildren, Hugh, Scott and Kristen; two stepgreat- grandchildren, Hughie and William; three sisters, Clara Schock and Leona Goven, both of Turtle Lake, and Erna Schock, of Miles City, Mont.; one brother, Meiny Wagner of Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be: Monday, Jan. 3, at 2 p.m., in Trinity Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake, with Pastor Terry Kern officiating and Pastor Lucas Wagner assisting.
