Elizabeth was the last born of five children. Her mother, Elizabeth, died when she was two and her father, William, died when she was just six. She was raised by her older siblings who were all enumerated together in the 1900 Boston, MA federal census. She was sometimes called Lizzie, but detested that name because it was the name given to the Tin Lizzie car. Elizabeth married her first husband, John A. Sullivan, on 21 Aug 1906 in Boston, MA. Several years later, daughter Mary Louise, was born. John died at age 27 on 04 July 1910 of Consumption. Elizabeth and Mary moved in with Elizabeth's brother, Daniel and his family. They stayed with brother Daniel until she married her second husband, William J. McLaughlin on 01 Oct 1916. They were the parents of three children; Rita Elaine, William Joseph III, and Doris Elizabeth McLaughlin.

Wife of the late William J McLaughlin, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs Mary Shields, Miss Rita E McLaughlin, and Mrs Doris Lawton; and a son, William J McLaughlin, Jr., all of Milton. A solemn high mass of requiem will be celebrated at St Pius X Church, Milton. Burial will be at St Joseph Cemetery, Medway.
