Emmie was born in 1891. On September 20, 1906, she married Marshall Oliver, the son of Rufus M. and Emma Oliver. Emmie and Marshall lived on a farm near Grapeland in Houston County. On November 10, 1919, Marshall died, leaving his 28-year-old widow Emmie with eight children, including 3-month-old twins.

Sometime in 1921 or 1922 Emmie married George Hickman Lowe, also a farmer in Houston County. They had one daughter, Nona Angelina Lowe, born July 31, 1923.
In 1930 Mr. Lowe was farming in Houston County and Emmie was a laundress operating a home laundry.
In 1940 Emmie and George Lowe were livng in Wooster Heights in Houston. They were owners of a filling station. George died in December 1950.
