He worked at Commercial Solvents for 19 years. He later was machine repairman for Caterpillar Inc. at the foundry in Mapleton for 25 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 974.
A world War II Navy veteran, he was a member of American Legion Post 2.
