****************************
William H. Von Wasmer, age 97, died Wednesday afternoon at Caldwell.
On arrival in America, he settled at Omaha
in Nebraska. Shortly afterward he moved to Grand Island in Nebraska where he made
his home until 1903 with the exception of several years at Salt Lake City, where he
had charge of a silver mine.
In 1903 he came to Caldwell and engaged
in the implement business with Justin B. Gowen. In 1907 Von Wasmer and Ed Bullock became partners in the Caldwell Forwarding Company he took an active interest in the business up to the time of his last illness.
The aged man took an interest in the development of the city and the Boise Valley and saw this part of the valley transformed from a desert and sage covered waste into the beauty and usefulness it has now attained. He has lived to see changes in transportation from ox-team to airplane
and has traveled in both. Both his parents
lived to be more than 90 years of age.
Interment in Canyon Hill Cemetery.
