--John C. Ewing, age 72, died at his home in Bunker Hill at 12:30 o'clock Sunday morning after a six days' illness with blood poisoning and erysipelas.
--The deceased was born and reared in Clay township, Miami county, in 1858, being one of a family of eight children. In 1900 he was married to Ersie Armstrong of the same community. Seven children were born to the couple, four of whom survive with the widow. They are: Luther E. Ewing of Loree, Walter C., Bernard, Clyde and a daughter, Bessie, all living at home. A brother, George Ewing, lives in Kokomo.
--Mr. Ewing was engaged in farm work in his earlier life in Miami and Brown counties. He moved to Bunker Hill in 1916, where he had resided ever since.
--Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the M. E. church at Bunker Hill, of which he was a member. The Rev. S. I. Zechiel will officiate. Burial will be made in the Chittick cemetery, two miles southeast of Miami. On account of the nature of the disease, the casket will not be opened.
