Born to Merle L. and Eva Belle Whiting in Lindsay, Calif. A graduate of San Francisco Polytechnic High School, Mary Jane spent many years in Bakersfield and Corona, Calif., before moving to Reno in the 1950's. Mary Jane was the beloved mother of Arlene Birdsong, Charles Mathews, and Patrick Mathews, and a devoted grandmother to eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She had 33 happy years with her beloved second husband, John P. Meyer. Mom liked to collect Oriental items, sew, cook, decorate, do numerous volunteer activities. and spend time with her friends and family.
She was an exceptional woman, and she is deeply missed by all who love her.
