John, born Johann Kähni, son of Anton Kähni and Mechtunda Brugger, came to the USA in 1853 with his brothers Michael and Anton and settled in Williamsport, PA before moving to Sullivan county in 1865. He and his wife died from diphtheria within a week of each other.
