He was first buried in Mullions Cem, Hawkins Co TN and his sons moved him to Union Cem. He was a hunter. In 1875 he moved his family from Greene Co. to Hawkins Co., Tenn., they had to cut the timber, brush and small trees up through the Grassy Creek Valley to get to their home site, At the spot where their home stood was a running spring and to this day it is called "the Thompson spring,"
Nancy Ann was left with her father when he and her mother, Melinda, parted while she a small child. She was "bonded out", this meant that her father made an agreement that she would work in someone's home until she was of age, her wages went to her father.
