Born David Michael Sisler into a baseball family, he was the son of Hall of Fame player George Sisler and the younger brother of former Major League player Dick Sisler. He attended Princeton University (where he played collegiate baseball), before being signed as an amateur free agent by the Red Sox in 1953. Sisler marked his big league debut on April 21st, 1956, and recorded a career-high 9 wins in 39 games pitched that season. His most productive year was in 1960 with Detroit, when he won 7 games with 6 saves, while posting a 2.47 ERA in 41 relief appearances. In 247 games, Sisler compiled a 38 win, 44 loss record, with a 4.33 lifetime ERA, in 656 innings pitched. Following his baseball career, he became a business executive.
