Joseph A. McDonald, 52, a Vandalia shop employe, residing at 442 Bates street, met instant death when struck by passenger train No. 219, in front of the South Bend division station at 8:14 Saturday evening.
McDonald is survived by his widow and one daughter, Allie. Short funeral services were held at the McDonald home at 10 o'clock this morning, conducted by Rev. D. S. Hartley of the Wheatland Avenue M. E. church. The body was taken to Chili, Indiana, where services were held this afternoon and interment made in the Chili cemetery.
