Patrick passed away Saturday at Providence Portland Medical Center of multiple causes after hip surgery. Pat was the ninth child of an Italian immigrant family that settled in the city of Portland about 1910. After graduating from Benson Polytechnic High School, he entered the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). His lifelong employ-ment was as a foreman with Portland Terminal Railroad Co. People cared about Pat because he sincerely cared about them. He showed a legitimate interest in all the people he dealt with. Those who knew him were blessed and will miss him dearly. Pat was preceded in death by his wife, Alphonsina; and leaves behind son, John DeCristoforo and his wife, Melissa; grandchildren, Bethany and William of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Mildred Chambers of Portland; brother, Dr. Mereno "Mick" DeCristoforo of Milwaukie; and numerous nieces and nephews. A recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, and a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, in St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Southeast 43rd Avenue and Powell Boulevard. A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, in Mt. Scott Funeral Home, Southeast 59th Avenue and Foster Road. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Providence Medical Center Cancer Treatment Program.
