Olamay A. (Armentrout) Gnoza, 78, of Fitchburg died Wednesday, January 12, 2010 at the University of Massachusetts -- Memorial Hospital, Worcester after a brief illness.

Her husband, Chester E. Gnoza Sr. died in 1990.

Mrs. Gnoza was born in Ohio, November 19, 1932, one of six children born to Charles and Lenora J. Armentrout and grew up in Ohio. During her high school years, she became an accomplished musician and was able to play the clarinet and piano.

She has resided in Fitchburg for over 40 years.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter in law, Chester E. Gnoza of Winchendon, Kenneth J. and Mary Gnoza of Fitchburg; a daughter and son in law, Maryann and Charles Champagne of Orange. She also leaves five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Most recently she attended St. Joseph's Church where she was a daily communicant and served as an altar assistant. Formerly, she was an active member of Madonna of the Holy Rosary Church in Fitchburg where she assisted in many parish based activities including the Lenten Fish Fry.
