Edith Allen

Mrs. Edith H. Allen, 81, 519 North Seay, Cushing, died Monday, May 23, 1983, at 11:50 a.m. in the Cushing Regional Hospital.


Funeral services will be Thursday, May 26, at 2 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home with Rev. E.K. Haseltine and Capt. Loyce Lee, Cushing Salvation Army, officiating.


Burial under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home, will be in Fairlawn Cemetery.


Edith, the daughter of the late Samuel and Mervic Taylor, was born Dec. 8, 1901, in Fallis, Okla. She was reared and received her early education in that area, moving to Cushing with her parents and family in 1917 and had resided here since that time.


She married Jesse C. Allen on June 11, 1921, in Cushing. He preceded her in death on Jan. 20 1964.


Surviving are seven sons, Bill L., Jimmy, (sic) all of Cushing, J.C. Allen, Richland(sic), Mo., David Allen, Oklahoma City, Gene Allen, Sedalia, Mo., and Ray Allen of Norwalk, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Smith, Cushing, Mrs. Frances(sic) Totcky, Almont, Mich.; and Mrs. Earl McClaskey, Cushing; one brother, Howard Smith and other relatives.

Funeral services for Edith H. Allen, 81, 519 North Seay, were held Thursday, May 26, 1983 at 2 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral with Rev. E.K. Haseltine, pastor of the Church of God, and Capt. Loyce Lee, Salvation Army, officiating.


Mrs. Holly Myrick, pianist, provided the prelude and postude and accompanied a duet composed of Mrs. Bill Phoenix and Mrs. Willene McLaury, as the(sic) sang "Precious Memories" and "In the Garden."


Grandsons served as casketbearers.


Interment, under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home, was in Fairlawn Cemetery.


Mrs. Allen died Monday, May 23, 1983, at 11:50 a.m. in the Cushing Regional Hospital.
