David Franklin Blausey married Bertha Stroot in 1938; age 30. He was a serviceman; and Bertha, originally a beauty operator and then a homemaker.
They had 3 offspring; and was survived eventually, by six grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

OBITUARY:

"David F. Blausey, who formerly served on the Redondo Beach City Council, Planning Commission and Redevelopment Agency for more than two decades, died at home Thursday morning. He was 83.

Blausey served on the council from 1943 through 1945. He also was chairman of the Redevelopment Agency, which then was separate from the council, from 1962 through 1975.

Mr. Blausey also served on the Planning Commission from 1947 to 1976.

He was born in San Pedro on Jan. 14, 1908, and had lived in Redondo Beach since he was 10.

"He was one of the old pioneers," said Joe _____, Redondo Beach's newest City Council member. "He was a very good planning man and he worked very hard on the old Master Plan, years ago.

"He was a very nice man, but he was no-nonsense when it came to the city."

Blausey also served on the Redondo Beach Round Table, a 60-member group representing city officials, business leaders and residents.

In an interview Thursday, Blausey's wife, Bertha, said her husband took pride in civic work.

"He was very civic-minded and was willing to work for the city without any compensation," she said. "He'd say it was his duty."

In addition to his City Council work, Blausey was a member of the Elks, the Hermosa Beach Rotary Club and the Southwest Planning Council.

In addition to his wife, Blausey is survived by two sons, Glenn of Redondo Beach and _____ of Stockton; a daughter, Patricia _____ of Costa Mesa; a sister, Laura _____ of Redondo Beach; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the White and Day Mortuary, Redondo Beach. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Pacific Crest Cemetery chapel, Redondo Beach. Entombment will follow at the cemetery mausoleum.

The family requests that any donations be made to the Arthritis Foundation or the Rotary Foundation."
