The death of Mrs. Maria John, widow of the late Daniel John, occurred, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Aaron D. Snively, who resides near Goes Station, this morning at about 7 o'clock, after a painful illness for several weeks, her disease being dropsy and heart trouble combined.
Mrs. John was well known in this city. She was born in Warren County, near Lebanon, nearly 72 years ago. In her early girlhood she removed to this county and was married to Daniel John, a farmer.

Some time ago, her brother, E.F. Drake, being a man of great wealth, being almost a millionaire, purchased the Butler property on West Second street and erected a beautiful cottage, Queen Anne style, which is not quite finished, and which he intended to furnish elegantly and present to his sister as a slight token of his affection for her.
