"Mrs. Mary Strong." Mary Wernick first saw the light of day in Mellin County,(error should be Mifflin) Pennsylvania, June 26, 1828, and died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Herman Mullen, in Colon, July 25, 1916 at the ripe old age of 88 years and 29 days.
She was married when 18 years of age to William Strong and was the mother of nine children, eight boys and one girl, all of whom are living. She had forty three grandchildren, forty five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
her husband preceded her to the other shore about thirty years ago.
She had a sweet spirit, a happy contented disposition and found her greatest joy in the service of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Some months ago she fell and broke her shoulder bone from which she never fully recovered, she suffered very patiently. In early life she gave her heart to Christ and was for many years a member of the Christian Reformed church. The funeral service was held in the Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Trott, and the burial was in Lakeside cemetery.
