Barker Hunsley was the son of John William Hunsley and Jane Barker Hunsley of Lincolnshire, England. He was christened Oct. 24, 1847 in the parish of Caistor, Lincolnshire, England. He arrived in the United States on July 4, 1850 along with his parents, brothers and sisters . In April 1854 the family settled near Springfield, Illinois. On December 17,1869 in Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois Barker married Adelia Ann Franklin the daughter of William Benjamin Franklin and Sarah Ann Jones Franklin. To that union nine children were born. He moved his family to Pawnee County, Kansas. On June 14, 1880 he became a citizen of the United States. He took his oath in Pawnee County, Kansas. After his wife Adelia died he was married in Jan. 30, 1891 to Mrs. Bettie "Bessie" McDonald (maiden name Bettie Brasfield). To that union one child [Sarah(Sadie) Hunsley ]was born.
