Mary Rich Lowder, 85, widow of Julian Lowder, died Friday, January 14, 2011, at Saluda Nursing Center in Saluda.

Born December 21, 1925, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late William Singleton Rich and the late Fannie Mell Bradham Rich. She was a retired administrative assistant with Clarendon Memorial Hospital and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for over twenty years.

She is survived by two daughters, Melanie (Carey) White of Batesburg and Tina (Mark) Ward of Chanute, Kansas; a son, John "Danny" Dantzler (Glenda) of Orangeburg; a brother, Bill Rich of Lexington; three sisters, Ruth Blizzard of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Amelia Spencer of Mobile, Alabama, and Florence Amdur of Cookeville, Tennessee; and six grandchildren, John Dantzler III, Mary Mitchell, William Dantzler, Grace Ward, Mark Ward Jr. and Austin White.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Sara Margaret Lowder, Eunice Jordan and Willie Rhodes.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2011 in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. Dr. Jack C. Moore officiating assisted by the Rev. Mike Lowder and the Rev. Drew Taylor. Burial will follow in the Manning Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Rich III, John Dantzler III, Mark Ward, Mark Ward Jr., Mike Lowder and Jeff Lowder.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at Stephens Funeral Home.
