Alexander Achtziger, 84, Lincoln, died Sunday (1-16-11). Born (5-14-26) in Milwaukee to Henry and Emelia (Franz) Achtziger. Retired Machinist/Mason for South Dakota Cement Company for 33 years. Also self-employed farmer. Member: College View Seventh-day Adventist Church, past president of United Steel Workers Union, graduate of Vale, South Dakota High School where he excelled in sports, quarterback for high school football team, boxer, basketball and track, volunteered at Good Neighbor Center.

Family members include son, daughter-in-law: Ron and Anna Achtziger, Sundance, Wyo.; daughters, sons-in-law: Becky and Steve Bowen, Raymond, Vicky and Dale Buchholz, Lincoln; foster son: Larry Whitebear, Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren: Kalista Smith and Jody Brumbaugh, Andrew and Trey Buchholz; nine great grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife Beatrice; parents; sisters, Pauline, Tillie, Mary, Emma, Emily and Bertha.

Funeral Service: 1 p.m., Friday (1-21-11) College View Seventh-day Adventist Church Heritage Room, 4801 Prescott Ave. Pastor Terry Bock officiating. Burial in College View Cemetery. Visitation: 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday at Roper and Sons, 4300 "O" Street. Memorials to College View Seventh-day Adventist Church Building Fund. Arrangements by Roper and Sons Funeral Services.
