Mrs. Sarah A. Donahue Bracelen, seventy-four, who with her parents came to Nebraska at the age of sixteen, succumbed after a lingering illness at 4 p.m. Thursday at her home, 3130 S. Street.
Her parents settled at the edge of what is now Pawnee City.
In 1870 she married Thomas Bracelen and moved to Humboldt, Thomas died in 1898 and was a Civil War Vet. In 1902 she came to Lincoln.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. E.M. (Katherine) Dennis of Lewiston, Ida.; Mrs. Bernard (Delia) Schmitt and Miss Margaret of Lincoln; three sons, Charles of New York City; Thomas and John of Lincoln, two sisters and one brother.
A Sad Home.
For several days past Mrs. Sarah Bracelen has been eagerly watching for the return of her son, William, who some three years ago left for the Klondike. Each morning breakfast was postponed until the arrival of the Portland fast train, and, disappointed, the family sat down with the vacant chair that awaited his coming. Tuesday morning a telegram came announcing the fact that Will was among the passengers that went down with the ill-fated Islander. The message was from his partner, Edward Dennis who was with him and among those rescued.
