MARION C. SELF
---Friends and relatives were sorry to learn of the death of M.C. "Crit" Self which occurred at his farm home west of La Plata about 10:00 Friday morning, February 14, following an illness of two weeks with pneumonia and complications. Mr. Self was sixty-seven years of age at the time of his death.
---Marion Crittenden Self was born June 28, 1878 near Horse Cave, Kentucky, a son of Porter and Catherine Self. He came to Missouri with his parents when two years old and had lived in and near La Plata since that time with the exception of four years which was spent in Iowa.
---He became a member of the Southern Methodist Church of La Plata at the age of seventeen.
---He was united in marriage to Miss Nora Ethel Farmer on March 15, 1904 and fourteen children were born to them. One daughter, Ethel Imogene, died March 5, 1925. His parents also preceded him in death.
---Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Nora Ethel Self and the following sons and daughters, Harold S., Gibbs, Jesse Self, Lovilia, Iowa, Mrs. Burton Cameron, St. Louis, Claude Self, La Plata and Esther, Mildred, J.P., Thelma, Blanche, Virginia, Junior, Don Freeman and Carlyle at home. Dan Self of La Plata is a brother and Mrs. Myrtle Flickinger of Vinton, Iowa, is a sister. He is also survived by four grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
---Funeral services were held at the Christie Funeral Home at 1:00 Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Fred L. Hudson, pastor of the Community Presbyterian Church. Interment was made in the La Plata cemetery.
