Son of Zachariah Allen who was born in Salisbury, North Carolina and moved to Belltown, Greene County, ILL.(by 1817) and Elizabeth Law Allen, Zach's second wife. He married Jane Gibson daughter of Thomas and Martha (Hogg) Gibson. Jane was born at Massies Creek, Green County, Ohio near Xenia. They were all members and founders of the Seceder Church ( also known as Associate Presbyterian Church) which is now Sugar Tree Grove Presbyterian Church. Tom died young leaving Jane to raise her 6 children with her widowed fathers help. When they were raised, son James moved to Ellston, Iowa and son Robert moved to Garrison, Kansas where he had a 400 acre farm/ranch. Jane moved to Kansas with Robert and his second wife and their children. Shortly before her passing in 1908, Jane moved to Albany, Linn County, Oregon with her son Robert and his family which is where she passed and is buried. Earlier I thought she was buried in Garrison, Kansas but in 2010 I found her in Oregon. Thomas was born near present day Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee. Thomas' father and 3 or 4 of his brothers went into and settled early Greene County, Illinois.
