He was the son of Ephraim Roper and Hannah (?). Ephraim Roper was captured on 11 September 1697; He was a captive among the Indians in 1699 but was soon ransomed. In 1699 Ephraim Roper was Ransomed from captivity by Jonathan Farnsworth. About 1713 at Sudbury, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, Ephraim married Sybilla Moore, daughter of Richard Moore and Mary Collins. Ephraim Roper served between 14 October 1722 and 28 November 1722 as A Sentinel employied by the colonial government to keep garrison, or range the woods. On 21 March 1729 Ephraim Roper was Taxed 2 shillings for the laying out of a road to Marlborough. He died on Thursday, 16 February 1730 at Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts, Accidentally killed in the woods. He was buried after 16 February 1730 at Old South Burying Ground, Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts, All traces of his grave and stone were removed with the burying ground was turned into a park. The location of the grave and it's inscription were copied by William S. Barton and deposited in the Worcester Antiquarian Society. His gravestone read:Here lies Buri'd ye Body of EPHRAIM ROPERwho dparted this life February ye 16, A.D. 1730,in ye 43d year of his age
