Married Alice Wilkinson in Scituate, Rhode Island in 1760

Served n the Rhode Island Militia from 1775-1780. Pension # 845860. He stated in a deposition taken on 15 October 1832 in the Court of Common Pleas in Otsego County, New York that at the time of the deposition he was a resident of richfield, Otsego County, New York, having come there in 1794.

He ended the serivice on 20 April 1775 serving as a First Sgt. under a Captain Joseph Kimball for a period of 19 days at which time he was commissioned an ensign on 19 June 1775 in a Minute Man" group known as the "Scitaute Hunters" which he served in for 8 months and 2 days. He became a 2nd Lt. for 1 year and 3 months starting on 28 April 1877.
