Laz is the son of Joseph Quave and 2nd wife, Della Hardy Rosalis Quave. Laz married Bernice S. Thornton June 6, 1934 in Harrison Co MS by Rev. R.L. Walton. [Bernice was the daughter of Arthur & Sophronia Thornton]

Children of the couple are; June Rose Quave Martino Nugent; Leon J Quave ; and Laz Quave Jr.

Laz was involved in city politics most of his adult life, serving as the Chief of Police in Biloxi, Harrison County Sheriff, Harrison County Supervisor and Mayor of Biloxi Miss.
