Peggy Sue Allred McKinnie, 70, of Houston, Texas, died January 27, 2011 at her home, after a valiant four and a half year battle with cancer. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends, and she was comfortable and smiling until the end.
Sue was born in Houston on April 22, 1940 to Albert Jesse Allred and Elmina Browning Allred. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1958, and was active in the Scottish Brigade. She married her high school sweetheart, Charles Ray McKinnie, on April 9, 1960.
She loved the Astros, and loved watching her grandchildren play sports. She worked for and was honored to be a supporter of the Brookwood Community. She loved being with her friends, the "Snowflaques" in Fondren Park, and the "Cows" in Valley Lodge. She was a member of Sugar Land First United Methodist.
Sue is survived by her husband of 50 years, Charles McKinnie; her daughters Shannon Mizell and husband Pat, and Stefanie Donham and husband Kyle; her grandchildren Mary Katherine, Erin, Patrick, and Connor Mizell, and Lily and Luke Donham; her mother Elmina Allred, her siblings John Albert Allred and wife Vicki, and Carolyn Allred Schuenemann and husband Dick, and loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:00pm-8:00pm Monday, January 31st, and the Funeral Service will be at 10:00am Tuesday, February 1st, both held at Niday Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale.
Memorial Contributions in Sue's name may be made to the Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program of the Gynecologic Oncology Center of MD Anderson Cancer Center.
