She married Jessie Ledford on Nov 1, 1829 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. They raised their children (William, Martha, Nancy Jane, Mary, Thomas, Christine, John, and Fredrick) in Lincoln/Cleveland County, North Carolina on their farm. Cleveland County was formed in 1841 from parts of Lincoln and Rutherford Counties.
Their eldest child, William Ledford, was my great great great grandfather. Their daughter, Christine "Tiny" Ledford, was the first wife of William M. Freeman, my great great great grandfather.
***NOTE: Their son Thomas Ledford died of disease on Aug. 9, 1864 in Petersburg, VA while serving for the Confederacy. Thomas, along with his brother John, mustered into Company C, 1st NC Light Artillery Regiment (known as Charlotte Artillery) on Aug. 15, 1862 in Camp Hill, NC.
***NOTE: Their daughter Martha married Henry Wortman on Mar. 15, 1853 in Cleveland County, North Carolina. During the 1900 Federal Census, she was widowed and living with her unmarried daughter Hannah in Morganton, NC when she reported giving birth to seven children (Margaret, Hannah, William, Henry, Nancy, Mary, and Jessie) with all still surviving.
