The sixth child (of seven) and third son of Czeslaw and Sophie (Witkowska) Gadzalinski.

Ray was left without a father when he was four years old (Aug. 1933).

Of this three brothers, Ray was closest to his younger brother George (my dad). He also looked the most like my dad. Ray was Best Man at my dad's wedding in Oct. 1956.

He graduated from Pulaski High School in June 1947. On 22 July 1949, Ray joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War (1950-53); Airman 3rd Class. He was discharged in 1953.

Uncle Ray never married. His occupation: U.S. Postal worker. He worked about 20 years as a postal worker (1954-1974) and then retired on disability.

My uncle resided with his mother ("Busia") at 3015 S. 7th Street in Milwaukee until her death in Dec 1972. The house was sold in Nov. 1976 and then Uncle Ray became a permanent resident of the Veterans Admin. Hospital on National Ave. As a resident there, Ray succesfully won the battle over the disease of alcoholism--however the years of damage was too late to undo.

Raymond died at age 56 of cardiac failure due to acute coronary artery thrombosis. Survived by his sister Sophie Dombrowski and brothers Chet and George and sister-in-law Millie. Also by sister-in-law Loretta Gadzalinski and by several nieces and nephews.

Burial date: Friday, Aug. 9, 1985 (I was one of his pallbearers).
