Born Dec. 26, 1949, in Mt. Jackson, Va., she was the daughter of Harry Calvin Barrow and Mary E. (Jackson) Barrow.
Mae was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker.
She was a member of the Former Calvary Assembly of God Church in Ranson.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Michael Allen Ballenger, who died July 7, 1970; one sister, Connie Knipple; and two brothers, Gay Jackson and Donnie Barrow.
Mrs. Ballenger is survived by her husband of 41 years, Donald L. Ballenger, at home; sons, Donald Lee Ballenger II and wife, Dawn, of Ranson, and Gregory S. Ballenger and wife, Shannon, of Summit Point; sisters, Faye Kerns, Kay Mumaw, Joy Walls and Bonnie Smith; brothers, Ronnie Barrow, Ray Barrow, Nay Barrow and Jay Barrow; grandchildren, Victoria E. Ballenger, Cameron N. Ballenger, Bailey J. Ballenger and Coryn N. Ballenger; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at Charles Town Baptist Church, 211 E. Congress St., Charles Town, with Brother Brian Hotaling and the Rev. Cedric Sullivan officiating. Interment will be in the Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home.
