MRS. MINNIE STROUD DIES
Mrs. Minnie Stroud, 908 North Fourth street, a fine, well-thought-of colored woman, aged 73, passed away at her home on Monday, June 21, after an illness of about three years. She is survived by one sister, Bettie Harris, who lives in Iowa, one brother, Monte Cooper, of Clinton, and two granddaughters, one Edith Dean, whom she raised from childhood after her mother's death. Minnie Cooper Stroud was an industrious worker and had been employed in many homes in Clinton, in particular by the late Mrs Ella Pearl Smith, and later for Miss Dixie Smith, until she became too ill to continue with her work. She was faithful to families whom she served and they In turn were faithful to her in her last illness, as was the granddaughter, Edith Dean, who cared for her tenderly. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Second Baptist Church. Burial was in Windsor where she was from and where her family is buried.
