George Russell Hepler, 87, of Worthington, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, in Armstrong County Health Center. Born April 28, 1923, in Sugarcreek Township, he was a son of the late Elmer and Hattie (Campbell) Hepler. He was employed by Logan Clay Products in Craigsville for several years. He also drove a school bus for Shriver Bus Co., and was a truck driver. A World War II veteran, he served in the Army, where he was an amphibious truck driver and instructor. For more than 20 years, he raised chickens and sold eggs, and became known as "The Egg Man" and "Chicken George." He also was a deputy constable in Worthington Borough. He was an avid hunter and expert marksman. He also enjoyed gardening and loved exotic animals. Survivors include a son and a daughter, four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dora Leona (Black) Hepler; his second wife, Rosie Pearl John(s) Hepler; a daughter, Carol Hepler; four brothers, Elmer, Jim, John and Ralph Hepler; and two sisters, Ruth Peschel and Florence Hepler. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the F. DUANE SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 119 Bear St., Worthington. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Interment in Worthington Presbyterian
